Greene County district court, week ending July 2

In Greene County district court Frederick James Lonsdale, 41, of Rippey was sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. The prison term is concurrent to terms in two other Greene County cases. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended, but Lonsdale must pay a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge, restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees to be determined, and $337.91 court costs. His driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. A charge of possession of methamphetamine-third or subsequent offense was dismissed, as well as a companion case in magistrate court in which Lonsdale was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Mark Andrew Duntz, 27, of Des Moines, possession of marijuana-first offense; and Joshua Martinez, 31, of Ogden, operating while intoxicated-first offense. Trial dates were set for Aug. 25 in both cases.

Cases were initiated in Greene County district court as follows: Mason Lee Taylor, 21, of Lohrville, OWI-first offense; and Larry Lee Varnell, 21, of Churdan, driving while license barred.
